We took the boys on our first family backpacking trip. They did great. Ridge refused to let any one take a break, "come on let's go" over and over. He is a hiking machine. Canyon loved finding all the little cubby holes in the rocks to hide in. We went about 1 1/2 miles and they carried thier own packs almost the whole way. It was a great day.
